Sergio Cimadoro of the Sir John Corah Lodge No.7736 in Leicester has introduced the Open Hearts and Minds (OHAM) charity, founded in 2010 by Sarah Clements-Boyer, Phil Boyer and Edward Odhiambo. Sarah and Phil met Edward whilst living in Kenya from 2008 to 2010. Edward had a dream to build a school in his village in western Kenya (Kokoth Kateng) as so many children there could not afford to attend school.
They decided they would try to help make Edward’s dream come true and the three of them created 'Open Hearts and Minds'. The charity's mission is to provide educational opportunities for disadvantaged children and families in this deprived community in Kenya. Edward manages the day-to-day operations in the village while Sarah and Phil are in charge of fundraising and are based in Melton Mowbray.
Sergio sent us some beautiful pictures and the one we love captured a poster containing the words - “Moral Values for an Ethical Society”. Follow the link to find out more about this Kenyan school.
