The Leicestershire & Rutland Lodge of Installed Masters No. 7896 convened on the 11th of April, 2025, for a memorable occasion—their 122nd meeting. This milestone event was marked by the installation of their new Master, Geoff Phipps, who succeeded outgoing Master Andy Green.

In a ceremony filled with tradition and camaraderie, Geoff Phipps was warmly welcomed to the chair by fellow brethren and distinguished guests. Among those in attendance was Peter Kinder, the Head of Leicestershire & Rutland Freemasons. Accompanied by his dedicated team, Peter extended his best wishes to Geoff for a successful and fulfilling year in his new role.

The evening was further enriched by an engaging presentation from David Herbert, who delivered an insightful talk entitled “Mozart and The Three Degrees of Freemasonry: In Praise of Friendship.” David explored the connections between the legendary composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the principles of Freemasonry, weaving a narrative that highlighted the enduring values of Friendship, Integrity, Respect and Service. The address was complemented by musical interludes performed on the organ by Geoffrey Cowley, adding a layer of artistic brilliance to the proceedings.

The lodge's vibrancy was evident in its impressive turnout, with nearly 70 Freemasons gathered for the evening. This robust attendance reflects the lodge's thriving membership, bolstered by the addition of 33 new members within the year—a testament to its growing appeal and active engagement within the Masonic community.

As the Leicestershire & Rutland Lodge of Installed Masters No. 7896 moves forward under the stewardship of Geoff Phipps, its members remain united in their commitment to fostering fellowship, upholding traditions, and embracing the ideals that have guided Freemasons for generations. With such a promising start to the year, the lodge looks set to continue its rich legacy of friendship and fun.
